What is KÍLOWÍ?
KÍLOWÍ is a bilingual Yoruba-English card game that helps explore and learn the Yoruba language. The cards feature both Yoruba and English words, making it perfect for both Yoruba speakers and learners!
Game Rules

Iwọ kò gbọdọ̀ lo àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ mẹ́rin tí ó wà nínú ara káàdì náà.
You must not use the four words in the body of the card.
Yorùbá nìkan ni Ọ gbọdọ̀ sọ, nígbàtí o ń gbìyànjú làti ṣàlàyé ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó wà ní òkè káàdì náà.
You must speak only Yoruba while you are trying to explain the word at the top of the card.
Tí o bá ní ìdádúró, o lè lo àmì ohùn ọ̀rọ̀ náà.
If you're stuck, you may sound out the word.
Kò sí àáyè fún àwọn olùta ayò láti lo àfàrájúwe.
Players are not allowed to use gestures.

Playing with Yoruba-Speaking Players
Perfect for mixed groups where some are learning Yoruba while others are fluent!
The Learner's Role
Olùdíje tí kìí ṣe elédè Yorùbá mú káàdì náà, kò sì ṣe àpèjúwe ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó wà ní òkè káàdì náà ní èdè Gẹ̀ẹ́sì.
The Yoruba-Learner holds the card and describes the word at the top of the card in English and/or Yoruba.
The Speaker's Role
Olùdíje Ní Èdè Yorùbá gbọ́dọ̀ ṣe àmọ̀rò ọ̀rọ̀ náà, kí ó sì pèsè ìdáhùn ní èdè Yorùbá.
The Yoruba-speaking player (speaking only Yoruba) must guess the word and provide the answer in Yoruba.

If you're stuck, you may sound out the word.
No Gestures
Kò sí àáyè fún àwọn olùta ayò láti lo àfàrájúwe.

Olùta Ayò Méjì / Two Players
Ó rọrùn fún eré ọkàn-sí-ọkàn láti ṣe ìdánwò fún ara wọn ní èdè Yorùbá.
Perfect for one-on-one play to test each other's proficiency in Yoruba.
Àwọn Olùta ayò yóo gbà fún ara wọn láti jẹ́ olùpè àti àmọ̀rò.
Players take turns being the caller and the guesser.
Àwọn Olùta Ayò mẹ́rin / Four Players
Ìbá fún àwọn ẹgbẹ́ kékeré, pẹ̀lú àwọn ẹgbẹ́ méjì tí àwọn oṣeré méjì kọ̀ọ̀kan.
Great for small groups, with two teams of two players each.
Àwọn ẹgbẹ́ mìíràn yípadà bí olùpè àti àmọ̀rò.
Teams alternate turns as the caller and guesser.
Àwọn Ẹgbẹ́ Nlá / Larger Groups
Fún ìgbádùn diẹ̀ síi, ṣe àwọn ẹgbẹ́ mẹ́ta tàbí diẹ̀ síi.
For even more fun, form three or more teams.
Ẹgbẹ́ kọ̀ọ̀kan gbà àwọn eré eré, pẹ̀lú oṣeré kan bí olùpè àti ìyókù bí àwọn àmọ̀rò.
Each team takes turns playing, with one player as the caller and the rest as guessers.
